Working Title:
Urban Services and Governance in Nepal: The Case of Solid Waste Management in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

Haphazard urbanization has pronounced effects on provision of solid waste management. This dissertation analyzes the solid waste management in Kathmandu metropolitan city by linking urban political ecology with a governance point of view. Governance seen as the role played by multitude of actors operating at different levels within the city and contributing to the waste management process. Qualitative methods like field observation, semi-structured interview, focus group discussions with the actors in waste management sector will be carried out. The study attempts to show to what extent in the process of waste management everyday governance practices by different actors play a significant role.
