Working title:
Bridging the Gaps of Global Agendas to Local Implementation: A Case Study of Sustainable Development Goals in Indonesian Cities

Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Bernhard Müller, Technische Universität Dresden

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were defined by national governments in 2015. Criticism arose regarding participation of local governments and their implementation capacities. This research deals with the coherence of policy making through examining the interaction between actors in different government levels in Indonesia. It uses a qualitative design by triangulating data sources from document analysis, a survey regarding the local priorities of SDGs, and in-depth interviews with relevant decision makers and actors. The result of the study will contribute to the body of knowledge on policy implementation gaps.
