Rolling Applications for open topics

If your research interest is closely related to the scientific profile and remit of the graduate school and is on another topic than the current call for scholarships, you can still do your PhD under the structured doctoral program. DLGS follows a rolling admission process, with possible intakes at any point of time during the year, provided the eligibility criteria is fulfilled.

To enter the selection process, the following criteria must be met:

  • First Master’s degree obtained within the last 3 years before application (date of certificate).
  • Total grade obtained for the Master’s degree "good" or better (corresponding to German level "gut").
  • Research proposal within scope that clearly
  • Complete online application (in English only) with all supporting documents requested.

A complete DLGS application includes all of the following components:

  • Letter of motivation
  • Certificates and transcripts of academic qualification (MA, BA, higher education entrance exam)
  • English proficiency level test certificate (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC)
  • Online application form filled out and submitted (incl. all the above documentation)

All applications that fulfil the eligibility criteria are assessed against our evaluation criteria. Please note that applications received via rolling intake are not financed by DLGS scholarships. Applicants who wish to carry out their PhD under the structured program at the graduate school must be able to secure funding for their studies. Candidates can either be self funded or funded by external sources such as other institutions, foundations and/or organizations. Applicants who apply for external funding should therefore inform us about deadlines by the funding institutions and other requirements that may be necessary.

Selected candidates are expected to enrol as a PhD student at TUD and participate in the programme and activities of DLGS.

Please note that DLGS raises no tuition fee neither does it provide any financial support for applications received via rolling intake.
